Zune80gb ripping movies with DVDFab - slow transfer to Zune

I rip my DVDs to mp4 format at 2400kbps / 256kb aac 720x480. they come out about 2gb to 2.5gb max.

When I sync a 2gb mp4 to my zune 80 that I ripped from DVDFab, it takes it a LONG time to transfer. Note, it does not say “transcoding file” like it does if you try to transfer a nonsupport video. But it takes a good 20 to 30 minutes per movie. Whats the deal? I’m on USB 2.0.

Does the zune 80 have a hard drive thats a turtle? Is it flashbased?

I use H.264, 320 x 180 for widescreen, choose a file size of 400-500 MB per 1.5-2 hour movie.
I change the audio to 125% since the sound can be a little too quiet, especially on an airplane.
They transfer quickly and look great.

Yeah my big thing is I want the rips to be ultra high quality b/c I watch them on my hdtv. So 320x240 or whatever is not even an option. My file sizes are around 2GB b/c I encode at 2400kbps for video and 256kbps for audio.

Ok I guess the normal transfer time (not transcoding) for a 2GB file on a USB 2.0 should be 10 minutes? B/c I used to have a creative zen w and the same size file transferred to that in about a minute.
