We’ve just posted the following news: Youtube no longer supported on Smart TVs from before 2012 and older Apple devices[newsimage]http://static.myce.com//images_posts/2010/01/youtube-tv.jpg[/newsimage]

Because YouTube pulls the plug on its old API, the video site doesn’t work anymore on many Smart TVs from before 2012, Apple TVs from before 2010 and iOS devices running on iOS 6 or earlier versions.

If these devices had FOSS operating systems/firmwares inside, anyone with time and skills could simply produce their own updates. If only the manufacurers could think that way, as opposed to thinking about how they can sell information that they shouldn’t have been allowed to obtain, and certainly shouldn’t be selling.
