YouTube 4K HD launches, with 4096p streaming video.

Just because it says 1080p its HD. I find most vids have artifacts up the ying-yang. Download the vid and compare the filesize with a REAL hd vid (H264) and there you will also see the quality difference.

Unless I am missing something its really 3072 if its a 16x9 aspect. 4096 is the the horizontal resolution.

Unless the next big industry HD hype is vertical 9x16 orientation :slight_smile:

hai YouTube 4K’ completes the trilogy of announcements made this week by the video-clip streaming giant.

First we had the YouTube Mobile update, then it was YouTube Leanback. Now it’s YouTube 4K.

YouTube now supports videos shot in 4K mode, which means a resolution of 4096x3072. As the blog states: “To give some perspective on the size of 4K, the ideal screen size for a 4K video is 25 feet.” The blog then goes on to say that IMAX movies are projected through two 2K resolution projectors.

That puts a whole new spin on how detailed and high quality these videos are going to be.
