Yet another session fixation error

winxpsp2 1.0GB ram first optical drive is BenQ DVD-RW 2nd optical drive is liteon DVD drive

When I try to burn a data disc, for a CD, it burns to about 100% then BAM session fixation error and I get a cheap coaster.

When I try to burn a data disc, for a DVD, it makes those border something or rather then BAM session fixation error and I get an expensive coaster.

I’ve tried updating my firmware, reinstalling nero , killingASPI, installing ASPI and using other media types. what else can i do to have successful burnination again?

what other info should i post?

Hi NightShadow02 and welcome to CDF.

Post any error logs you get.

You mentioned Nero but not the version. Nero has Clean Tool software that should be used when removing Nero. Use the trial version to reinstall and update witrh your serial number.

Use quality media such as Verbatim or TY.

here it is. im not sure if ive revealed my serial number or not.

I see this in the log:
Not enough free discspace.

i’m pretty sure thats not it. It might be an old portion of the log. I have 4 GB free on my system disk. And 5GB and 1GB free on other partitions

Disc may mean your optical disc. Hard disks are usually spelled with a k, for some strange reason.

I also see this in the log:
Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB)
Last address to be written: 2375503 (527:53.28, 4639MB)

trivia: hard disks are spelled with a k because its magnetic. Not sure how that qualifies using a k though. heh.

Hm. I DID try to overburn at first. But the next couple of times I only used 3.5/3.6 GB. strange. why is THAT not the last address to be written? and 3.5/3.6ing failed too.

i read a post saying something about adjusting jumper positions on my burner or something. what should i correctly set it at? Master Slave or Cable Select?

also, in my device manager, i have two Primary IDE Channels and two Secondary IDE Channels. Is that normal?

Personally I set all my devices to Cable Select as that makes it simpler for me & works fine on my systems.

However, you need to do what works for you. If you use Master/Slave it’s important that you put the Master on the end connection & the Slave on the middle one.

In Device Manager it’s not normal to see 2 primary & 2 secondary controllers unless you have a PCI IDE card.
To start with try deleting both the secondary controllers & rebooting.

I was concerned in your logs to see the burn speeds selected. I don’t know what media you’re using but often too slow a speed can give you more problems than too fast a burn speed.
For 8x media stick to 8x burning and for 16x media try 12x or 8x. I wouldn’t advise going below 8x for these.

i deleted both secondary controllers and when i rebooted, they both came back. What does that tell you? I’m not sure what my jumper settings are. I’ll check next time I’m free.

Oh I thought lower burn speeds meant stabler burnination. THanks.
