Can I install XP SP2 over XP with SP1?

#2

That’s possible, but it’s easier to simply install SP2 for current XP through Windows Update IMO.

Yes done it many times without problems.
It would be a good idea to slipstream your XP disc with sp2 for future re installs on your machine as it saves time.
If you google for it there are several sites that will give you detailed instructions.

If you want to slipstream SP2 as suggested by weedougie, nLite from http://www.nliteos.com/nlite.html makes it very simple. I slipstreamed bootable Win XP SP2 and bootable Win 2k SP4 using nLite in just a few very minutes.

Thanks for the advice. I looked at the nLink site and it looks easy.

Eveyrone is correct. I got the free SP-2 disk from Microsoft a while back and slipstreamed it and have never regretted it.
