Wrong Firmwire installed

Hi,

I’ve recently decided to upgrade the firmwire of my DVD writer… wrong decision if i may say so myself!! I’ve downloaded the firmwire for win 2003 instead of winxp and i actually installed it!

The dvd writer still works, however, if i have a disc in the dvd writer when i switch on my pc, the pc does not enter the desktop, it crashes half way through and i have to reboot manually. Also, if i have the pc on and a change cds, the dvd writer freezes my pc and i have to reboot. After i reboot it usually plays the cd as per usual.

Make of the DVD writer: ASUS DRW-1608P

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

@ gudida,

Welcome to the Forum.

It will be extremely helpful if you provide the exact complete full Version Number of your particular ASUS DRW-1608P, the exact Version Number of the Firmware you installed on your ASUS DRW-1608P, and exactly where you obtained this Firmware.

Drives are not OS dependant (Windows anyhow), unless you mean the FW Flashing app is, you simply flash to correct FW for your model not OS.

Yup, has nothing here to do with which OS you have tried…
