Writing error with Nero

CD, DVD and (Ultra HD) Blu-ray Writers NEC / Optiarc Writer

Hello guys,

I tried twice to burn a DVD on my labtop and twice it failed nearly to the end. Support used: DVD-R from Octron (don’t know if they are good or if the burner is defect, i never burned before on this notebook)

Edit your post & remove the Nero serial no.

Be quick as you’ve only got 30 mins from the original post time to do that.

so actually everything seems ok, except the support?
I burned at 8x, the highest possible speed. Should I reduce to 4x or 2x? If it still not work, i will try another (better) brand of dvd…

Assuming that this is a Dell laptop it would be a good idea to update the firmware for the burner. You should be able to find a later version somewhere on Dell’s website or get 1.03c from here .

Wherever you get it from follow the instructions to the letter.

In terms of media Verbatim are always a good bet , especially if you can find 8x +R with Made In Japan on them.

I used 1.03c with the ND-6650A in a Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505 and Nero 7.2.3.0 and it won’t burn reliably at 8x using Verbatim DVD-R (Mitsubishi media code) or Memorex 8x DVD-R (Ritek data code). Both types of media burn and read reliably on a Pioneer DVR-109 on my desktop PC.

It’s either the laptop and/or the laptop burners or a problem with Nero and laptop burners.

Funny, the 8x Memorex/Ritek DVD-R burned fine at 12x using my Pioneer DVR-109 and Nero 7. The problem appears to be with my Inspiron E1505/6400 and the Philips SDVD-8820/NEC ND-6650A burner, since it can’t read the Verbatim/Mitsubishi 8x DVD-R discs that it burned itself. The Pioneer DVR-109, OTOH, reads those discs just fine.

The point is that you cannot easily compare Pioneer and Nec or other burners…

The NEC burner doesn’t seem to like the Tier 1 Mitsubishi media-code Verbatime 8x DVD-R discs. What super DVD-/+ R do I need?

At this point, I’m about to give up on the laptop burner and continue using the desktop Pioneer burner.

Your system is low on RAM resources. Maybe you could free up some mem and try again, also with recommended media from Verbatim, TY, Maxell, TDK and others.
