Write errors, SCSI lite-on?

hi, i’m getting write errors, and i’ve ready many of the threads but can’t seem to solve my problem.

i reinstalled and updated my SYS IDE drivers; now i can make sure that dma is used “if available”. previously, there was no option to select DMA.

primarily, i use nero, but i’ve had errors with other apps too.

Below is a clip from a nero log, when it failed.

I wonder if the SCSI reference is part of my problem, you see I have no SCSI controlleron my system, nor have I ever.

I have a lite-on 32123s (as verified by the tag on top of the drive).
the rest of my rig: ASUS p4s533, 256megs DDR, WD 800JB drive.

ANY SUGGESTIONS to fix my write errors?
I can burn most of the time at 8X.
THANK YOU!!!

here is a clip from a nero log:

You will need to post an entire record of a burn failure from the log, not just a few lines.

The SCSI references have nothing to do with SCSI devices on a system, and are not part of the problem.

Thank you very much for reviewing my situation.

This could be a bad/incompatible media problem.

Have you tried a different brand of high quality media?

suddenly i feel like an idiot.
a few weeks ago i found a lite-on app that checks blank media. i ran it on some crappy blanks that i’ve been using, and the app reported that the media was fine, and capable of burning at 32x. i assumed that it was right.

anyway, i just scrounged around my house and found a single verbatim blank (rated at 24x), and it burned at 32X like a goshdarned champ!

i knew that i should try additional media, thanks for getting me off my butt.

i’m not worthy.

You’re welcome.

Don’t feel bad. This happens all the time, even to “experts” who should know better.
