Trying to burn a .mkv file to a dual layer dvd for backup purposes. Everything starts off great and then at 99% it fails. Here is the log:
Also, I was having a number of issues before to the point where it wouldn’t even begin writing on the disc (firmware problem) i did the following to fix them:

Updated the firmware on the DVD Burner (NEC 3500AG from 2.98 to 2.1B)
Fixed the DMA issues by deleting the master and slave checksum values and rebooting
I’m using Philips brand DVD+R DL’s btw (and yes i’ve read all of the verbatim glorification threads, but i purchased this before doing so)
Personally, Philips and Verbatim (atleast in the DVD+R single layer days) were both top tier brands. I burned all of my Wii games using both brands and neither of them gave me a problem (unlike other brands).

#2

Sorry for the double-post. The site gave me an error when I posted it the first time.

#3

You don’t believe it’s the brand of DL disk but have you had any successful burns using the Philips DL disks? I use the same drive (although with Liggy’s firmware) for burning over 100 hundred DL disks, only Verbatim, and have never had a bad burn. I’ve also never seen that write speed miscompare message before. Curious!

#4

I actually JUST updated to Liggy’s 2.1B firmware. I’m afraid to try it though as I don’t want to waste another DVD :X

What do you think?

#5

I think the firmware will be fine, although I believe I use 2TG (I’m out of town now and just have my laptop with me so I can’t double check the firmware), but I don’t think the DL write stategies are different. I honestly believe it’s the disks, but I’ve never tried a Philips DL so I can’t speak from actual experience.
