Man i was just testing my princos 1x(well most burners burn at 2x) dvd-r with different wirte strategies to see wich would work best since princos are almost all of them unreadable after burning even at 2x. First i tried the taiyoyuden strat, horrible, then i tried the prodisc03 strat, horrible the media wasnt even detected in my pc to run k probe!! Then i used the princo08x strat and baboom pretty good results from these discs at 4X!!!

burn was done on an 851s firmware GSOK at 4x!!
princo 1x@princo08 burnt at 4x

not the best scan but for a 4x burn on these i say is pretty damn great!! now i dont have to throw them out!!

#2

im doing a 2x burn as i type to see the results!!

#3

Well that’s not GREAT, but it’s certainly better than it was, huh?

In many cases, cheap media like Princo has such low reflectivity that it cant be read very well no matter how well it’s burned. I’d call this a success, but wouldn’t want to trust the disc for a long period of storage.

#5

Someone e-mailed me about having success with a 4x Princo done at 8x using the 8x Princo strat. But the person didn’t provide any sort of results, and Princo media is also very variable (not to mention bad), so results are likely to vary a lot. But if someone has 4x Princos, they could try them at 8x. :stuck_out_tongue:

#6

Well I will once I re flash the drive to use 8X strategy… But here is a Princo 2X burns (I did not know princo had 1x or 2X disks and bought them thinking they were 4x like the coasters I had but DVD identifier said 2X)… I had DVD decryptor open while I was burning a disk and it popped up a window… I should have known not to touch anything until the burn was finished but I clicked cancel and it locked up the burn… The other one I did after curing a minute again with dvd decryptor shut down.

What I am confused about is… well see the picture?

omnipatcher shows
Princo /52 -r 2x
Princo /52 -r 2x-4x

Dont see a Princo 8x… With US0Q.bin But there is the princo08x01 2x-4x-6x-8x and princo08x02 /52 -r 4x-6x-8x I dont see any Princo 1X or a Princo @ 8x
Which one is this?

Did the Princo /52 -r 2x-4x swap with princo08x02 /52 -r 4x-6x-8x and a total dismal failure. I would post the scan but nero cd-dvd speed disk says there is no disk inserted. Kprobe says test range error.

#9

The 4x burn at least scanned unlike the destroyed 8x burn.

#10

you wont see any princos 1x on the media table because all burners that are new identify these discs as 2x, even if you buy the 1x that they sell at compusa they are going to burn at 2x, but theyre really 1x dvd-r.

anyways im testing one out at 8x to see the result!! hope my burner doesnt die on me in the process!!ejej

nevermind, stupid of me ,my burner doesnt do 8x dvd-r!!ejeje only 8x dvd+r

#11

if they say that is 4x then i think princo has only one 4x available so it shouldn’t be hard to find on the table, the pricos 1x are actually the ones you see at 2x on the table!

princo /50 1x, 2x
princo /52 4x
princo08 8x

#12

I still need to try the princo08x01 2x-4x-6x-8x swapand see if it works better than their princo08x02 4x-6x-8x strategy. The princo08x strategy does burn it worse then regular one. Heck I have another 4X unknown -R that I can burn at 2X and get better results… But I am shocked ot see the princo’s at least work while sony lg, samsung etc create complete coasters and cost 3-4 times as much and include real nifty cases.

Here is the Princo burnt @ 2x. I would be happy if the disk that was half created but works half way worked for a full disk. But for some reason burning a full disk seems to destroy the media.

#13

Tried the second swap… princo08x01 2x-4x-6x-8x and @ 4X and 8X there was no difference… But at 2X… The media is usable…

Can they mix the write strategy between princo08x01 and princo08x02? That would create a great burn @ 2x…

Same scan but done with Kprobe as in Message #6. IE Princo 2x burnt using the original Princo 2x write strategy.

#17

As you can see the 4x media with the new strategy is at least usable… While the Princo 2x’s are coasters. Dont have any more 2x disks to test with the swaped princo08x01 2x-4x-6x-8x strategy to see if the 2x disks burn as good as the 4x disks burning @ 2x speeds.

#18

NOTE: princo08x01 has 2x-4x-6x-8x has @2x burn while princo08x02 4x-6x-8x does not have a 2X burn speed.

#19

This is a burn using the original strategy 4X media written at 2X…

#20

The new Princo write strategy has got worse in US0Q as well…

Here is a disk burnt @ 4X on 4X media with US0N. I mean you cant make the burn any worse than this… But somehow they were able too… see the picture above in message #16 for write done with US0Q…
