Would just like 1 thing from my NEC2500

… for it to read my older dvd+/-discs (for it to burn more than 1/3 of my DVD+/-discs properly would be nice too).
I’ve just updated the firmware to 1.07, the newest.
I don’t care for (at this moment) unlocked rip speeds, region free, etc.
I would just like to retrieve my data from about 12 other DVD-R I burned with my older DVD burner (I got a new computer that came with a NEC2500A).
I have:
NEC2500A (master)
FW1.07
Nero, ASPI updated
System ASPI not installed (I’ve downloaded Adaptec v4.71a2)
Nvidia chipset
Win XP.

I realize this is a general problem (via the search function) so this may be hopeless, but any help would be appreciated and it seems some have functionality.

Does anyone know of a solution? Is there a solution?
The media I used was not great, I admit, but I would still like the data from these discs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. :slight_smile:

Yo-

Strongly suggest getting a DVD-rom like an aopen 1648/aap, Sony 1621 or LiteOn 166s (they are about $25-30 US) to use as your reader and reserve your 2500 just for burning-

That’s what I was just thinking actually. I mean, it is only 40 CAD.
It’s just a little hard to justify spending $1000 on a computer, then having to spend more money just to read dvds.
