Wow. I never thought I’d see a 7200 RPM drive in a notebook. Congrats, Seagate. I guess that’s why I have two Seagate drives in my PC.

I’m not so sure about a 7200 RPM drive in a notebook. What about heat and power consumption? My notebook gets warm to touch after about 45 minutes of use with a 5400rpm drive. Being that no one is talking about better cooling inside the cramped notebook, is it only gonna get hotter?

This isn’t the first 7200 laptop drive, but I think it is the first 160 gig 7200. Newegg currently lists 14 7200 RPM 2.5" drives from Seagate and Hitachi (I’d swear they used to have one from Toshiba too)

I have the 100Gb 7200.1 Moving from a 60Gb 4200rpm (bat life of 6 hrs), I’ve only lost 20 mins run time. These drives are quicker than many last generation desktop drives. A must for anyone that uses their laptops in a development environment!
