[qanda]This thread is about the Hitachi Deskstar 7K250-160. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]I have loaded WIN XP Home to this drive and it booted 3 times now it says error reading disk. Also tried to reload OS and this time only shows as a 32GB drive. The jumpers are set correctly. Why won't it hold an OS?
When you are booting up, go into your bios and see what is reported there for the size of your hard drive.
I got it to see the 160 once, but now it only see 32 there also. Have tried forcing it to see it and no luck there either.
Also tried to use UBCD to check drive and will not load says unable to boot from drive.
You probably need to update the bios on your motherboard. I don’t know how old this drive is but some drives used to come with a jumper limiting the size. Double check the jumpers.
The drive has the 32 GB clip that is suppose to allow it to be seen. But I will try the update and see if that helps. I appreciate your time and help.
