Wobble modification?

http://www.nxp.com/acrobat_download/datasheets/SAA7392_1.pdf

Based on this chipset, would it be possible to modify a drive using this chipset
to burn the SCEA wobble into a backup. Anyone talented enough to assist please
let me know.

thanks

After further research also found this IC on the underside if the unit.

I’m not very electronically inclined in reversing circuits so any help is appreciated!

edit to spell correctly.

Beg you pardon, but WHY would you do that?

i would like to modify this drive to burn an independant wobble as opposed to the atipsync wobble, to the leadin area only. so to recreate the psx SCEA pulses … if this makes any sense…?

well i have no idea what you are talking about. but id bet it has to do with backing up games. good luck  and hope you can find some help.

I think " DATA " on Star Trek did that once, but it was very complicated. (just joking) I hope someone here can help.

actually data did not modify his wobble, he modified his groove :stuck_out_tongue:

thanks alan… appreciate it

How would you generate your own wobble signal?

The question is, are you talented enough?

You basicly need to figure out how to wobble the data track, the problem with this is, you would lose track of the original ATIP wobble, and the process would abort.

You basicly need to figure out how to manipulate the ATIP signal.

What i’ve read from the Orange Book is that the burner follows the wobble which of course is wobbled at 22.05khz like the PSX SCEX wobble, so any pits you burn will be wobbled.

The trick is to burn pits that don’t follow the wobble aka non-wobbled pits.

The big question is will the psx only see pits or ATIP as well, will it be enough to trick the psx?
