I've found Windows Media Player Classic (my version 6.4.9.0) to be useful for playing some files that other players on my OS cannot.
In it's File>Utils, I found DSM Converter, but nothing explaining its use (no GUID or WMPC help info).
Googling led me to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirectShow
In that I recall my OS having a filter/codec named "Quartz" and the Google article mentions Quartz filter, I'm assuming that the DSM Converter is related to DirectShow.
Anyone have a take on the DSM Converter and what the normal user (semi-advanced geek) is using it for?
The converter seems to work as I tested it by converting an avi file which then plays back using WMPC, but I'd like to know a little about how such a resulting .dsm file is useful for.
