WMP cant recognise DVD burner (NEC ND-4550A)

[qanda]This thread is about the NEC ND-4550A. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Hello,
I am looking for an understanding or help to overcome the following situation. I have a Win XP pc with an NEC DVD RW nd 4550 dvd drive. It has worked happily for years. Now, it is behaving with some inconsistency: WMP 11 and WMP 10, and 9 do not recognise it as a device to which it can burn; when trying to write files to a CD through the OS the system can’t see any media to write to. However, the device does work through Magix Audio Lab and DVD decrypter.

Not sure what to check, what to do etc…

All help very much appreciated.

Use the tools that work actually.

Well that was so helpful…
I have searched the threads to no avail…

You could try being more helpful and less smug!

Don’t bother replying

What chef meant, was that WMP isn’t the best burning solution

If you’re burning audio, you might like to try the free software Burrrn - I use it all the time with great results.
