I have a couple of CD’s full of WMA8 tracks and at 64KB’s they are excellent… I use them for my portable player.

well WMA is something that microsoft wants us to use…I dont like it because it sounds verry shitty not on computer speakers but youll notice the difference on a good stereo set. and WMA got all kinds of security features and I just hate that

Does this program use a different algorithm to encode WMA than the original MS codec?

#7

Yep… WM8 is a new code for audio and video… you can download the comand line utility or get the 4.1 meg WMEncoder from MS… it is playable on all older WM systems

The MP3 Audio format, a successful area where Micro$$ don’t have world domination and “ooh we can’t have that can we”. So naturally now they’re asking for the last piece of the world. All prejudice aside, Why anyone’d feel the urge to use an inferior format like WMA really escapes me. As xian says, not only does it sound shitty on HiFi Stereo but furthermore it’s controlled/developed by M$. After all who really want’s to put all their eggs in one basket.

The last I tried WMA it was shit quality compared to MP3. May be it was the bit rate that I got wrong - anyway I gave it a miss. It sounded shit even on a non hifi speaker - Yamaha YST-MF25 :).

I’m sticking will MP3. Nero won’t burn WMA files.
