Wireless LAN Card or chipset firmware updates

Often I work with Notebooks with 802.11 wireless devices.

Wireless LAN devices tend to have firmware and support a firmware update.

When searching for firmware downloads for wireless cards or chipsets using Google, I receive many pages written for Linux users and for use of wireless devices on Linux.

What is the best way to acquire firmware for wireless cards or chipsets?
