does Windows XP Pro support high definition technology? does it support a quad core or core 2 duo processors? I have been reading alot of bad stuff about vista, corrupting or destroying peoples photos, mp3 files & other digital content, about it messing with photographers monitor calibration settings etc.
I was thinking about building my own PC, have read you have more control over its quality & build it specifically for what I need.
I do professional photography, but I also do graphic arts stuff & video editing, would like the machine to be upgradeable for newer technologies. I have no experience with building a machine, but I put together my own external hard drive, bought the drive & enclosure separately, & put it together, so I thought maybe I should just do my own whole computer.
I had been corresponding with some very helpful people on this forum on what Dell machine to get for my needs, I had narrowed down some models of machines, but it turns out I cannot afford a dell machine right now. People on this forum said it was too bad I was stuck with dell as I was going to get it through my cities interest free loan buying program, & they had a contract with only Dell.
So while this opportunity is gone right now maybe I could build an even better machine than a Dell, since I was told & read they use cheap parts like cheap inadequate power supplies, & building owns own machine can be cheaper than buying a pre configured one from a manufacturer.
Or am I getting into something way over my head? would I be better off getting a pre configured name brand machine? can anyone give me some starter points on building my own machine?
thanks for any help
