Windows XP is detecting NEC 2510 as removable disk

Sorry if this seems kind of off or hard to read, not used to forums heh. Anyhow I’ve been having trouble with my NEC 2510 since I bought it, upon installation it is initially recognized as a “Removable disk” which I can’t even view the storage capacity of, tends to take up all the Processor speed when I try. After a while I stumbled upon something that fixed this problem, that being either installing Nero or Power DVD, not sure which or if it was some other obscure thing I did. Just recently I had to RMA my motherboard, after reinstalling the thing I discovered that my DVD-RW was back to “Removable disk.”

I’m running Windows XP SP2 with as many updates as are vaguely relevant to hardware, an MSI K8N Neo-Platinum Motherboard, and I’d be glad to supply the rest of my hardware specs if anyone needs. I can’t seem to fix the problem this time so any suggestions what so ever would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help in advance.

If it helps, the Device Manager driver version info for my 2510 …
