Windows XP does not see my Liteon 812S

I unistalled a number of programs yesterday including WinOnCD 5 Power Edition.

When I rebooted my computer today Windows does not see my Liteon 812S or my Pioneer A05.

I seem to remember reading sometihing about this in a previous thread but I could not find anything using a search.

I have edited the registry following a visit to

and tried the second method mentioned there, without success.

Both drives have the yellow exclamation mark beside them in Device Manager.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Try uninstalling whatever you see under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers in Device Manager, then restart your computer.

Tried that but Windows still does not see either drive. It is seen in Device manager but with the yellow exclamation mark. On going into Properties the following message is there.

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."

Troubleshooter, is next to hopeless.

Even though I do not want it, I reinstalled WinOnCD and I can now see my drives. Bloody Roxio.
