Never had an issue with my burner till I installed windows vista ultimate. I’ve tried 3 different DVD authoring programs and they all give me errors even before I start writing to the DVD.

Normally you can delete the IDE controller, restart Windows and it will come back up in DMA enabled mode. Do NOT do this if your hard drive containing your Windows partition is on this IDE Controller.

Another way to do this, though unconventional, is to download the trial of DVDFab. It has a tool to enable DMA on your drive. Click the green check mark at the top of the window in DVDFab, then go to General settings, hit the button that says Reset DMA.

#5

Uhm I already deleted it. I don’t know if my hard drive is on that IDE controller btw

But It still doesn’t burn. But I think it started burning.

#6

Well, you did a major edit on that #3 entry. Looks like you have DMA enabled now.

Still not getting a good burn?

#7

No never started… Before it would say Writing device initialization failed.

but now it says

2008-12-10 20:01:45 Error BURN: WRITE FAILED: Can’t find write strategy at sector 16
2008-12-10 20:01:42 Error BURN: Write error at 0 (16) - Code 06 29 00 [Unit attention, Power On or Bus device reset occured]
2008-12-10 19:55:41 Info BURN: Write started 2117168 sectors to write

#8

well maybe a firmware update… i downloaded a firmwarefile.bin and clicked update in device manager but it said the device was up to date.

#9

It may not like those disks. Not finding a write strategy would seem to point to that.

I would suggest trying it with better blank disks. Verbatim 16x is the most recommended. Sony would be another option, though lower compatibility across all burners.

#10

The thing is in windows xp I used these disks just fine.

#11

You have SB04 firmware in the drive now. Latest is SB07. http://www.samsungodd.com/Eng/

#12

great now the light is constantly green and I can’t eject it. It recognizes the drive though. -_-

#13

Please tell me you didn’t have a disk in the drive when you flashed it.

#14

i think i might of… but it ejected it for me before it did it I believe. I just rolled back the drivers to SB06 but it still looks like i’ll be getting the burn error again. I guess i’ll try reinstalling 07

#15

well still green light… found this :
