Windows Media Player

Is WMP capable of changing cd audio songs to mp3’s? Is there one best music management software?

Thanks

WMP is one of the worst (many prefers to say crap) software ever written. It don’t use mp3 because use its proprietary format WMA.

The best (a bit difficult to use) for you is Exact Audio Copy

To manage mp3 files you can use Winamp

I use Windows media player 10 and it has a rip feature that lets you select the tracks and rip them to mp3 if you have an mp3 codec like (lame) installed.
It’s important to set the choice under tools, options, rip music, for format select mp3 and then also set the size/quality setting.

I don’t know about other versions but it should be easy to check

Is eac something I have to get, or can I get by with just winamp?

Thanks gumshoe and geno

EAC is intended to convert CD in mp3. Winamp have also a ripping function, but EAC is better (rather complex to use initially). If you don’ register, winamp rip at only 2x (really boring), so prefer EAC for ripping.

Winamp is the best player, and have media management functions (create playlists, organize media, etc)

Next on the bad list is iTunes
