Hi, is there a way to change the oem number (or cd key number) of your windows 95 installation after it has been installed? What does changing the nuumber in your registry do? Will it cause problems? Why would anyone want to do that?

you can use x-setup (www.xteq.com), but why did you post this message if you don’t want to do it??

try prog winboost 2.xx…

The reason could be that you bought the computer from someone else and want your name in the OEM info instead of the previous owners.

Perfectly legal.

Well… The CD-Key has nothing to do with the name that Win9x, is registered to, the name can be changed without any probs. Just change the follwing keys:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion]
“RegisteredOwner”=“Your Stupid Name”
“RegisteredOrganization”=“Your Lame Bankrupt Company”

Hmm… I wouldn’t try it if I wasn’t damn sure that the Key is a working one, I might work. I could also be stored in more places than just there and compared at startup. In conclusion, I don’t think it’s a good idea. Why do you want to change it anyway?
