They’re just trying to plug the holes of a sinking ship. Windows 8 is officially dead. Keep using Windows 7 until 9 comes out.

Windows 8 should be considered a TABLET O/S and keep 9 as a distinct PC product… and develop BOTH in parallel (with a compatible Kernel so basic programs will run on BOTH). That’s the better choice moving forward…
Aside from some sexy marketing in Europe, the slate & win8 tablets have been a significant failure for M/S.

With that said, I’m STILL not impressed with the GLACIAL improvements of Android O/S as well… It’s a WTH moment when Google thinks on-screen multi-talking is not a useful killer app for multi-core tablet CPU/GPU combos. Also, where is the Microsoft-like USB peripheral DRIVER support? It’s ABOUT time they took seriously getting many USB peripherals to work such as WIFI dongles, routers, and develop more wifi applications to control with tablets-- as the whole-home universal remote control.

Most people (including myself) would consider widows 8/9 or whatever they are called at the time when you can do EVERYTHING without ever seeing the metro cr@p. MS finally seems to be be going in that direction… slowly.

Wake me up when the metro interface id designated an “optional” feature that can be disabled, or better yet, uninstalled…

Well just make sure you keep the boat afloat I will join in you in Windows 9 aka if it don’t go Metroized anymore…

Two lines that don’t make sense to me…

In this build the boot to desktop setting was activated by default, which means users end up on the traditional desktop when the computer starts.
Default how hard is it to give the user the power to decide what they use Desktop or Metro??? More rocks in the Brain again… nice going M$ not listening…

Windows automatically detects a touch screen and then continues to welcome users in the Metro interface
What gives detect how about let me the power user decide what I want detects is a very misleading word here…I have yet to automatically detect the stupidity of M$…there… :Z
