The thing I don’t get is. The reason why people use Windows XP is because it is light as heck. And has limited bells and whistles on. And thus it works fast on very old hardware.
And yet Microsoft keep releasing Windows versions that need a mega fast processor and large amounts of memory. This is all well and good for new PCs.
But why can they not also release Windows Lite. And just make it as cutthroat as possible with the minimal stuff that’s needed and let it run on old PCs.
To be honest having Aero and Metro and nice looking folders is nice. But I can see myself actually using the lite windows. It would also be great for Virtual PCs.
I couldn’t agree more. In face, I’ve found with GNU/Linux desktops like KDE, you can still have plenty of bells and whistles while still using less RAM, CPU, and disk space than Windows. Also, WFT is with this 16+ gb disk space requirement? Did Microsoft really need to make Windows so large, while ignoring the fact that many computer users would rather use that space for other things?
