Will this work ? -burning dvd on cdrom

Hi;
I’m going to build a new Linux Box. So I’ve downloded some Iso-s (of the operating system ) but I find I’ve run out of CD-R disks I do have DVD-R s (for the new machine) can I burn the DVD -R on the CD-Rom burner (plexwriter 10/10/32A) of do I need to get some CD-R disks ?

if you don’t have a dvd burner then you can’t burn dvds.

The physical structure of the media are dif, so the CD-R(W) drive will not recognize the DVD as a valid media (if it wasn’t like that the drive doesn’t have any DVD in the firmware data tables, so it wouldn´t recognize it either).

Would DVD burners exist if this were possible…?
