I was think of expanding so could put more hard drives or cd drives to my pc. The part that I want to put in is The
MSI Star-SATA6 2-Port SATA III 6Gb/s PCI Express x1 Controller Card

And I have a Pci 2.0, can I put the 1.0 in the 2.0?

Should work…all PCIE standards offer backward compatibility.

Yes!

Definitely - there is more chance of problems going the other way, with a 2.0 card in a 1.0 slot, as some 1.0 motherboard chipset implementations were not that great.

The other thing that should be noted that a PCIe x1 card will work in an x4, 8x or x16 slot

an x4 will work in an x8 or x16, and an x8 will work in an x16

The end result of this is that if you have a crossfire capable motherboard
and you are not using that capability, you can put an 8x Revo drive in that
unused x16 slot

or in your only x16 video card slot for that matter (if you are using the onboard video)
