This is my first post in hardware forum because I am confused with this problem.
A friend of mine wanted to get a regular 4:3 CRT TV for his new appartment (LCD TVs are waaay too expensive for anyone here in Egypt) , I suggested that he gets a 22" Widescreen LCD PC monitor and connect it to an external TV Box (which doesn't require a PC and connects directly to the monitor) but now I am very confused , will the monitor strectch the normal TV broadcast (4:3 here in Egypt) to fill the 22" screen of the monitor or would it appear as 4:3 ratio in the middle of the monitor with huge side black bars ?
The Benq 22" Wide monitor I suggested has 5ms response time and max resolution of 1680 x 1050 (WSXGA+) .
What should I look for in the TV Box specs ? is it the max resolution ?
The brands of TV Boxes available here are crap with the best one supporting max 1280 x 1024 resolution
Thank you all in advance
