I'm trying to understand why everyone with a Premium (fw 1.03) is having different results with SafeDisc 2.9 titles.
Doesn't make sense.
I for one cannot get a 100% working copy of SuperStar.
Copy will work in a Pioneer DVD-120 and Mitsumi plain CDRom drive.
But not in a Sony DVD 1621 (fw 3.3) and Plextor 40Max SCSI reader (fw 1.12 and 1.14). Get the temp file crash. At the point where the reading should stop, pass the protection check, and then start the game, both these drives start reading from the CD again. They keep reading for another 30 seconds or so, then the dreaded temp file crash occurs.
With BlindWrite, Autoplay and EWS make no difference.
Reading - Nibble - 1x to 16x, no alt read or extract subcodes.
Writing - DAO PW - 4x, 8x, and 16x
Results with Alcohol 120 make no difference either.
There has to be a common reason why the copy results vary.
Media? Premium TLA#? Region PC is configured for? O/S?
I've heard the pre-gap has something to do with it.
Drives that cannot read pre-gap pass the protection check.
While drives that can read pre-gap fail and issue a temp file crash in the case of Sims SuperStar. Is this wrong information?
One last thing, does the Premium support the Alternate read method in BlindWrite? Here, BlindWrite says it's not supported.
EDIT: I meant to post this in the Premium copy results thread, but I goofed and it ended here as a Topic. Mods, it's up to you, either leave it here or move it into the Premium copy results thread.. Thanks
