Why is InCD

… reducing the capacity of my cd-rw’s?

I just used InCD for the first time in a long time. I experimented with some low speed (pre-formatted) audio cd-rw’s that, according to a ‘Properties’ check beforehand, indicated a capacity of 660+ mb.

But when re-formatted using InCD, the capacity is reduced to 524+ mb.

Why is that ???

That’s the way that packet writing works. Roxio’s DirectCD/DragToDisc does the same. In the days when I used DirectCD the capacity of a 650mb RW went to just over 500mb when formatted.

I can’t provide the technical explanation I’m afraid.

There is a consensus that you have to stay away from INCD sine would do nothing but headache.
