I just bought a game that is a pig on my PC and it was unplayable.
I rembered from a few years ago that a third party No CD patch can increase performace by disabling the SafeDisk checking the CD. Since I purchased this game from the same company as the other game I thought I would try it. Well it worked perfectly. My FPS were constantly high and the game didn't jerk and frame jump constantly. I posted in the game's forum telling all the other people experiencing the same terrible performance problems to use the No CD patch and I of course got flamed by the non believers.
My questions are...
In general why does SafeDisk screw with my game performance?
If Safe Disk (1 o r2) only checks the cd at the start up why does it continue to hinder performance?
I read that the multi-layered encrypted wrapper that secures the CD-ROM content runs ALL THE TIME. Can this be what is causing problems?
Thanks for your help.
