Why benq 1620 burning speed issue?

Hi, i have benq 1620 with B7W9 firmware.

When i use nero to burn a dvd+R at 8x, why does burning a fuji dvd+r (16x max disc) takes longer 11mins than burning a fuji dvd+r (8x max disc) 8 mins  Should burn time be around 8 mins for both of the media burning at 8x ?

here the specs…

The Benq’s doesn’t actually recognise the 16x Fuji media so only burns at it’s default speed of 4x, hence the longer time.

The Ritek F16 is obviously a newer media & unfortunately it’s unlikely that there’ll be an firmware updates to fix this.

i had the same problem and i used mcse to import the new ritekf16 media code into the firmware and i used the ritekp16 write strategy for that, i get excellent results burning those discs at 12x.

Hi, SonnyUnlocker … can you give me the step by step instructions on how you do that patch. Thanks.

I’d like to see that as well as my 1620 is still active.

READ the MCSE thread!
Must be more then two years since we practiced this…

IIRC, start with highlighting a media code (MID) +R (or -R, when using dash media) part of table in MCSE you don’t use, click “Import” and paste in the output from DVDIdentifier (popping-up window in MCSE will guide you how-to).
Double click this (new) MID and chose the write strategy you would like to try. (Note, lossless strategy swapping is supported since v.1.0.3.5.)

A big thank you to ala42 for this great tool.

Happy burning.

Thank you pinto2 for the instructions.

Ok i am finally able to burn 16x fuji dvd+R at a higher speed than 4x.

The following is a test burining at 8x and the nero disk quality test.
Please advice if the following burn is consider ok as i don’t know how to
interpret those numbers.

Thanks
