I think that the cause is the disc. Too bad, for DL discs only Verbatim proved to be a reliable disc, whereas Memorex proved to be one of the ugliest DL discs ever produced

Hi nydev,
I think the main reason is the media kind you are using. RITEK-S04-66 media are not very reliable. Try some higher quality DVD DLs like Verbatim or Falcon Pro.

I 14:34:31 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x)

I 14:34:31 Write Speed: 2x

I 14:35:41 Filling Buffer… (40 MB)

Buffer is very small, what’s that ? a 10th of a second burn time ?
If you do anything else on the computer the buffer will empty and you have problems, that said Verbatim (and many starting to say Falcon Pro) are the only DL media worth any time.

You by any chance using Internet Explorer whilst burning?

I found it was causing problems and interfering with my DVD writer. I now use Firefox and no problems.

W 14:34:54 DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) Failed! - Reason: Access is denied.

I used to get this if I had used or was using IE, now I don’t use it, no problem locking the volume. Try and find what’s preventing you from locking the volume and it should solve your problem. I think there is also a piece of free software that can tell you which programs have the drive locked, but I can’t remember what they are called.
