Who makes MCC04 with this serial number, please?

in another tread about MCC,PRODISC,CMC relationships we learnt to distinguish manufacturers from serial numbers impressed on media plastic ring; for who missed  that’s what came out:

  • R: OAHG7IK20095961 6 = CMC made / + R: 4329E1512+08057W16 = PRODISC / - R: 4333E2924-03469021 = PRODISC

( Prodisc have a “+” in the middle of the serial number for +R media and “-” in the middle of the serial number for -R media )

I was wondering if it’s still true, i mean also for Verbatim 16x. I’ve just bought a spindle of verbatim MCC04 dvd+r made in Taiwan, with this mediacode:

00000000 01 02 00 00 A1 0F 02 00 00 03 00 00 00 26 05 3F …&.?
00000010 00 00 00 00 00 00 07 4D 43 43 00 00 00 00 00 30 …MCC…0
00000020 30 34 00 38 23 54 37 12 02 54 6C 02 92 5F 15 15 04.8#T7…Tl…_…
00000030 0B 0B 08 08 01 19 1B 0C 0C 0C 0D 01 00 00 00 00 …

The serial number around the center hole is PAPA211KO7201338 5

Here’s my doubts

  1. who makes these discs &, above all, can they still be considered A grade, though this CMC “suspect” code?

  2. does prodisc still produce 16x verbatim or it’s only CMC ?? I ask this 'cause i only see around dvd with same mediacode reported and with same kind of serial number.

Any help really appreciated,thanks.

As far as I know, only CMC is making 16x MCC media, both + and -R. Perhaps Prodisc-made discs will start showing up soon. If they are Verbatim-branded they are A-grade discs.

sure as sh*t those are cmc. i have some similar scanned here the mcc003 above it are prodisc take a look at the difference in errors… the mcc003 is 8x media written at 12x the mcc004 is 16x media written at 16x.

never read about it on this forum, but I saw also Verbatim DL+ (which should have the MCC id of course) “made in India”. I thought I couldn’t remember well, but yesterday I had a confirm with a three-dvd in boxes package sold as “movie-style”.

Moser Baer making DL, very interesting.
I wonder if we’ll see DVD+R DL with Moser Baer’s own MID code soon?

DL+ is most times the abreviation for Datalife PLUS

It would be a surprise if MBIL did make dual layer for MCC at this time.

whoops looks like I interpreted his post incorrectly then…

all 6 dual layer Verbs i have are Singapore made.

Did you buy jewel-cased Dual Layer?
Usually Verbatim media in jewel-case are made in Singapore…at least i noticed this for 4x & 8x MCC

sorry Shin_79, i was referring to dual-layer media which is all jewel cased. sorry to be off-topic.

Not too much off topic since i noticed what i wrote also on single sided jewel cased MCC

heh, true, you did say dual-layer above. anywho…i’ve not yet had the pleasure of purchasing any Prodisc made MCC media yet…all CMC. 2x50pks from Best Buy.
