White House speaks out against SOPA

Over the weekend the White House released a statement condemning all legislation that “reduces freedom of expression.”

SOPA has been shelved. It may not make it back to the floor of the House at all. http://thehill.com/blogs/hillicon-valley/technology/204167-sopa-shelved-until-consensus-is-found

Now we have to concentrate on stopping the Senate version, the “Protect” IP Act.

Obama is all for anti-piracy. You’re deluded if you think the Democrats are some kind of pro piracy party. When it comes to piracy, there is no difference between either of those parties.

So if this is true, all President Obama has to do is veto the bills if they make it to his desk for signature. We’ll see if he’s being honest if/when the time comes.

Obama needs the youth vote to get re-elected which is why you are seeing this from the White House. If he is re-elected then he will pay back his Hollywood backers. He will push the bill and sign it if it hits his desk.

This is right… similar two-faced backroom deals with the OIL pipeline are rumored to be in the works as well. Nevertheless, it’s alot of of those corrupt senate & hr people who need to lose their jobs too… it’s not surprising that alot of this support comes from states who don’t really have competitive broadband locally. Perhaps if it was something they cared about like charging a nuisannce fee $$ for scientologists to knock on your door down for those UTAH people. Heck, we wouldn’t care about that in the northeast… we know how to discourage that practice here.
