Whirring/Whoosh Sound from Lite On LTD166S?

I just picked up this DVD drive because my Toshiba DVD player would only do 2x DAE.

However, this LiteOn DVD player (from NewEgg) makes a very loud whirring/whooshing sound when spinning up and spinning down CD’s. Is this normal???

That’s the oscillation overthruster. :bigsmile:
Seriously, it’s normal. Someone suggested it is the ani-vibration gizmo, others say that it is just the disc slipping on the spindle when it speeds up or down. Anyway, they all seem to do it.
