Which USB-powered external slim burner?

In my region, both Samsung and LG slim external burners are available. Do you know anything about them?

Do they burn on USB power?
Do they get power from two one or two USB sockets?

Here they are:
LG GP08LU10
Samsung SE-T084M

@ zsero,

Why would you want a SlimLine Drive for an external Drive? ALL SlimLine Drives are poor performers when compared to the performance of a Half Height Drive. Also SlimLine Drives rarely have any Firmware updates issued to keep the Drive current with improved performance Media write strategies. I would suggest whichever Drive you finally decide on to ensure that the Drive is a Half Height Drive and not a SlimLine Drive.

My suggestion would be to get an internal Pioneer DVR-116D Drive and install it an SYBA SD-U2PLA-525 External Enclosure (http://www.syba.com/Product/Info/Id/89). Installing an internal Half Height Drive in a Quality external enclosure is cheaper than purchasing an External Drive and you will end up with a better quality external Drive. Pioneer is excellent in releasing Firmware updates and the Media Code Speed Edit (http://ala42.cdfreaks.com/MCSE) tool allows patching Pioneer DVR-116 Firmware with RRPC-1 Region Free patches among other available Firmware patches.

Maybe I was not clear, but I have two real drives in my real computer, which use real media with real firmwares  a Pioneer DVR-215D and a Liteon 20A3.

I don’t beleive in slim burners either, I just want to have a mobile reader, and occasionally use it as a burner for mobile purposes. Think about that: 10 million netbooks sold, and none of them have an optical drive, that’s why I ask

The external slim burner I have needs an external power supply to burn discs reliably.

LG GP08LU10 is firmware upgradeable
LG GP08LU10 is firmware upgradeable
Nearly all drives are firmware updateable. The problem is the availability of firmware updates for external slim drives.

I have a Rosewill slim external burner for my notebook it needs 2 direct USB ports for power, not bad for the money. If you have a 5V adapter you can power it from AC.
