Which One Is Right Nero Scan Disc or Stan Alone Player?

I have copied a Video and tested with Nero DVD Speed/Scan Disc that shows no damage on the disc and no error file, then when I play it on my stand alone DVD player at the end of video after %90 the picture is distorted and unplayable unless being forced to forward. I have NEC 3500 with LD_V1.4-Fast and using TDK (8X) CMC MAG F01.

that's usually a sign that the disc was burned to fast or it could just be crappy CMC media.Go here see that that stuff isn't A+ grade media.

have you got a drive that supports pie/pif scanning? i bet if you could scan this disc youll see a high amount of pifs towards the end of the disc which is typical of CMC.
if not then do a transfer rate test using your 3500 and post result i think you`ll find it will start to drop of on the test at around the 4gb mark. if this is the case and you burned the disc at 8X i would slow the burning down to 6X or 4X.

Thanks Nosmartz/ako; I have never had any problem with this type media burning at 8X this is the first time as far as I can tell I am experiencing this problem. As ako suggested I am at this time doing transfere test on the same disc and will post the result shortly.

The second burn with the same media from the same bunch and same speed and same video to be burn.

first one looks pretty crappy. how does the second one play? i think set top dvd players are CAV and if they are they speed does increase at the outer edge which could be the reason for the pixelization.

here are a couple of scans of the same piece of media to compare. my guess is that the dye is light in the outer edges and as mentioned before cmc is known for its variability. the last one is a ricohjpnr00. looks a bit better to me.

I suspect the jitter value is quite high on those burns. The Liteon drive doesn't pick this up on a PIE/PIF scan. But the transfer rate test does.

My guess is the media batch is bad or just hit and miss.

Try 4X with the CMC media. Saw some Yuden TDKs at Best Buy. Same price as the CMC TDKs. Look for Made in Japan on the box...those are the higher quality Yuden.
