It is good, but the Liteon 52327S(52x R, 32x RW and 52x READ) has increased rewriting speed.

So what ? Where’s the media then ? But most importantly, how reliable is 32x rewriting ?

 1. Why are you looking at the Asus now?

From what I understand, the Asus is a better reader whilst the Liteon is a better writer. Writing is more important IMHO as it relates to longevity of burnt discs (and you can easily buy a cheap Liteon 166 for a good reader).

 1. How do they compare to the LiteOn SOHC-5232K?

Perhaps thanks to this link :

Bottom line

ASUS will kill safedisc2 every time, liteon most of the time (no guarantee)
liteon 52x will kill most audio
ASUS cannot install a twinpeak backup (neither can Plex or Toshi)
liteon are not 100% reliable subs readers (ASUS are)
Plex for superb audio, Yammy too.
Nothing else matters

I’m very happy with both my LiteONs. Can’t find any faults with them.

The Asus spec is v.good - but can you get a black bezeled version anywhere!!
