Which model is best? Sony or LG?

I Am Going To Buy A Dvd Dl Writer.

But I Am A Bit Confused To Choose Between Two Models.

Should I Buy Lg Gsa-4163b Or Sony Dru-810a?

What R Ur Suggestion Guys?

Personally, I’d go for the LG, it’s an excellent burner (and quiet, too). Only negative about it is that you can’t do quality scanning - but the LG does support DVD-RAM.

Arachne, just out of curosity, why would you use DVD-RAM? I thought it wasn’t as good as DVD+/-R anyway and not many stand-alone players will read it? Maybe I’ll go do a search and find out the reason. :stuck_out_tongue:

I use it mainly for backups of stuff on my HDD - call me weird, but I just don’t trust DVD+/-RW media. My standalone won’t touch it, but that doesn’t bother me as any movies I backup, go on -/+Rs.

Some say it’s slow, but I tend to backup little bits of stuff often, so speed doesn’t really bother me, either!

Sony gave up designing and making their own DVD writer drives long ago while LG has been for about 8 years the largest CD and DVD drive maker.

I’d go for the Sony DRU-810, it’s a BenQ DW1640 with 3 panels included that says Sony :slight_smile:
