Which cd-rom

at the moment i have a liteon cdrw 24/10/40 / and a toshiba r1002 cd rom/dvd/cdrw/ i was thinking of replacing the toshiba with a cd-rom/ as i cannot play some safedisk 2 backups / can anyone give some advise of what one to get that you can play your backup with and also read protections with?

get the liteon ltd-163 16x dvdrom. probably the best reader on the market for clone now and also a great dvd player. the price is about the same as a decent cdrom, too. excellent audio.

would this one be able to play safedisk 2 backups?

If you mean the liteon ltd 163 then yes

I agree, get the lite-on ltd-163 dvd-rom

Byside that it can’t read protected music discs it’s superior.

Fast at protected pc stuff, fast at reading music(non protected) and fast at reading VCD.

i do not need a dvd would a liteon cdrom ltn 526 do the same job?

It’s not as good as the DVD-ROM.

1: Slower in CloneCD
2: Slower at reading DAE and VCD.

Better to get the best…not that big price difference either.

is there any other make of cd rom which will read as good(safe disc 2)

no the liteon ltd 163 is the best cd/dvd rom there is for reading SD2 protected games

thanks for the info . looks like i shall get one of them?

Yes , there is other, but none of them is as good as the ltd-163.

Toshiba drives(CD-ROM/DVD-ROM’s) is normally good but very slow at music and VCD.

TEAC is also good but very slow in clonecd.

Some asus and some aopen is also ok but very slow in clonecd(slow at skipping errors) and sometimes they don’t read the subchannel data…
