[QUOTE=Gabbon;2007400]But the other question I wondered if someone could comment on was whether I should expect a DVD burner to burn CD’s adequately, or as well as what a CD burner would do.
This question can’t be answered in general. This depends on the DVD burner. For example the Plextor PX-716 and Plextor 760 are really good CD burners and the burn results are comparable to a Plextor Premium or Plextor Premium II CD burner.
Even my “old” LG 4166 burns CDs in an acceptable way, and this is not the best burner at all.
I think if you use a good CD media brand (not the cheap noname stuff) and do your CD burn with a moderate burn speed (~16x speed) the results should be ok. If you’d like to burn audio CDs (since you’d like to “play” the CDs) maybe 4x or 8x speed are the better choice.
