So today, I got a phone call from premier shopping center in Manhattan (which doesn't seem to exist), claiming I won a bunch of groceries and a vacation, and I got a web site from them (which doesn't exist). So all they are interested in was getting my credit card number for the 3$ shipping charge. I of course give them a phony credit card number and 3 different people try to convince me to give them another one. I say my wife has my credit cards as she is going shopping after work, and one guy even got accusatory when I said she had them to go shopping (he said I though she was at work). They wanted her phone number to get a credit card number from her. I repeatedly asked for their phone number so I could call them back and I I got was it wouldn't do me any good without a particular number that I couldn't get till they had my credit card number. Did I mention that they all had the same foreign accent (I'm no expert on accents but maybe South African).
So of course I call the police 5 minutes later and get the stock answer, unfortunately there is nothing we can do till after they have scammed someone (and are gone), but well forward the information.
IS there anyone that you can report these things to that can actually do something in time? Its kind of annoying when people waste your time answering the phone, and then assume that you are completely stupid, and figure, Oh, well if I argue with him, then he will give me a real credit card number, even though he just gave me a fake one and said he didn't have any other cards with him?
At least I was able to waste a little of their time with the fake cc number.
Fyi, they pretty much refused to give me a phone number, but the phone number that came up on my internet phone was 972-793-1723.
