Whats better AMD or Intel?

I decided that their is a differance between these two and wanna know your views.

My View
I prefer Pentiums but am concidering the amd 64bit for its power

cant wait for 64bit Pentiums

Oh boy, a Pentium vs Athlon thread!! (change the title, because it’s either: Intel vs AMD or Pentium vs Athlon(64), but certainly not AMD vs Pentium  ).

Can’t wait for the reactions. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you used the search you would have find enough threads about this.
It all depends on what you’re using your comp for and how much money you’ve got.

I prefer AMD’s Athlon64 FX-55, but I wouldn’t mind to have a 3.8Ghz Pentium 4.

how do i change the name

AMD all the way! I will be getting 64 bit asap :p. I know Ice Cold is gonner tell me that Intel are so much better, but i dont think so!

AMD rules, for raw speed.

Draw your own conclusions.

A socket 939 AMD 64Bit CPU is imo the best way to go right now

Uhm, and what are those 64-bit processors running for a front side bus speed? Maybe for brute force the AMD is better but I’ll keep my P4.

Your poll has been added

Im going for the AMD, I should get this baby in the door in 2 days.

Christmas is comming early for me :stuck_out_tongue:

Basis:
. Socket 939 Athlon 64 3500+
. 300GB SATA Harddisk 16MB Cache
. 2048MB DDR PC 3200 Ram
. 16x Combo +/- DVD Burner
. ATI Radeon 9550 256MB DDR

Spec:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2GHz 512Kb L2 Cache NewCastle Socket 939
Cooler: AMD Box Cooler
Mainboard: Asus A8V Deluxe/WiFi, 4xDDR SATA/RAID 5xPCI 8xUSB2.0 Gbit
Chipset: VIA KT800PRO, FSB:1000
Harddrive: Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300GB SATA, 16Mb Cache, NCQ
Graphic card: ATI Radeon 9550, 256MB DDR, Tv-out, DVI
DVDDrive: 16x Multi +/- DVD Burner, Dual layer

Ram: Kingston 2048MB DDR PC3200, 400Mhz 184-pin (4x512MB)

on the A64 the memory controller is built into the chip itself but if you want the numbers its 1600Mhz/2000Mhz versus P4’s 400Mhz/533Mhz/800Mhz of the P4, as far as im aware

Nice setup but i’d have dropped half the ram and gone for a 6600GT

Agreed, but I m moving the Ati 9550 to another pc and putting in my gf5900 for this one. When the time comes, Ill get a 6X00 card.

I plan on flashing the 9550 to a 9600 pro/xt…

FYI, “Intel 64” is already out they’re called Itanium.

and cost more then I make in a month

brantdk why are you going for 2048 of ram when you wont see any difference to say 1024 you might as well go for a better card like say the 6600gt

Talk about reiteration!

AMD 64 rulez!!!
At this time ,p4 is a bad choice.

It´s in the price, so I cant really change it. I count on having this pc for a while so I dont mind having so much ram. In a couple of years, then 2 gb will be normal. Graphic cards change every half year, so Im happy for my GF 5900 at the moment.

Depending on the mother board, but up to 1GHz/16-bit HyperTransport Bus Link
