What will replace the Audio CD?

What do you guys think will be the successor to Audio CD’s. DVD-Audio, that Sony enhanced CD or what? I reckon it might even be DataPlay. It has built in Digital Rights Management, so the nice folks at RIAA are sure to like it!

Are the disks cdrw? Or just cdr?

What about the blu-ray disc…
There was a nice article on that at our mainpage.

maybe Super Audio CD, or the (slightly less good) DVD-Audio

For the near future it will be DVD-Audio or SACD.

I gotta agree with the above two…however I believe that SACD will be temporary before DVD audio takes over somewhere down the line…

I hope it’s DVD-Audio just so I can say DVD-A

Keep reading the news page … there may arrive some reviews about newer standards

I read in PC World magazine that a few optical drive makers have established another blue laser drive that is compatible with DVDs. Personally, I think this is tremendous news because people have finally caught on to the idea of players that do not make previous formats unplayable, as with DVDs being able to play CDs.

I do not have a link to this information but will go looking for one soon.
