What Vista 64 backup?

This is my first post here.
I’ve been using Macs for years but have had a machine made recently to run MSFlight Simulator 2004. Specs:1)AWD-IT GPC36 E8600 Overclocked Intel E8600 Core 2 Duo @ 4.0Ghz 6MB Cache 1333FSB CPU / Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 Crossfire DDR2 Motherboard / ATI 4870 512Mb / OCZ 4GB DDR2 PC8500 1066Mhz Memory / 500Gb SATA Hard Drive / 22x DVD-RW/Vista 64bit + 20" Dell widescreen desktop.

I’ve just got a 1TB Seagate externel HD to backup to & would appreciate advice about software. I have tried Acronis True Image Home 2009 & did a backup but all I can see is a ‘TIB’ file that I can’t open. Acronis don’t answwer my emails so is there a better programme I can try?
Thanks.

The TIB file is the compressed backup created by Acronis. Are you saying that Acronis can’t find/open the file or some other program can’t open it? I use version 11 and don’t know the difference between it and 9. If you want to try something else there’s DriveImagexml, http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm, or easeus disk copy, http://www.easeus.com/disk-copy/, both are freeware.

Welcome to the forum terryW

Right click on the TIB file and select MOUNT; it will then enable you to look at the backup.

You should be able to select Restore within Acronis and then select that TIB to restore.
