What tool do I need?

I have an mp3 (?) file that I’d like to use but it seems to be a none standard format. The app I’m using does not like it and various audio conversion software doesn’t like.

What proggy should be able to analyse this mp3 to figure out what it is and how to convert to a normal mp3 ?

you could try gspot to check the codec

have you tried to play the file with vlc or mplayer?

HOw did you rip it?

Yes it plays om WMP and VLC, but my slideshow proggy won’t accept as an audio file. Also NCH sound switcher says the file does not exist

GSpot saya Mpeg-1 Layer 3, 48,000 Hz, 320 kb/s, stereo

Everything looks normal but …

GSpot saya Mpeg-1 Layer 3, 48,000 Hz, 320 kb/s, stereo

Many apps assume audio is going to be 44,100 Hz sample rate. 48 KHz is usually the sampling rate for audio for video. There are plenty of free conversion tools out there, look for one that uses LAME as the encoder.

Thanks teddy, that seemed to do the trick.

For some reason the Russian characters in the file name were not well liked by many proggies.
