I have this big problem on one of my computers. I tried to uninstall IE 5 so the last version would be on instead. So I uninstalled that and restarted Windows except in the middle of the Windows 95 logo screen I get a blue screen of death. I now can't boot back into Windows. I try about 20 and nothing. I try normaly, safe mode, booting to dos and then to Windows, nothing works. I would have then reinstalled Windows but I couldn't get the CD-ROM to work and I tried about 5 different boot discs but they all said "Device not found". The CD-ROM had always worked in Windows before so I don't know what's wrong with it. So I decided that I would load Windows onto another hard drive on another computer then transfer that hard drive to the computer that isn't working. So I unplug the IDE and power cords from both of the hard drives in the non-working computer and plug in the new one. So I plug it in but I get "Can't read sector errors". So I plug the old hard drives back in and play around with them a little bit trying to use one old one and the new one trying to get it to work. I never succeed and just decide to put it all back together until I figure out what to do next. So I set everything back the way it was and try to boot. I get nothing. No post, no boot, no anything on the screen. The monitor's light is solid when it is recieving a signal and blinks when it isn't and it is blinking. I can't hear the hard drives doing anything but I can hear they're spinning. The tape backup drives comes on and the floppy too but the CD-ROM doesn't. I push the eject button on the CD-ROM and it doesn't eject which I find odd because there shouldn't be anything that won't let it eject.
So that's it. I'm wondering what I did wrong, what happened, and if there is any way to fix it. The computer is for my dad and even though it is an old Pentium it works fine for him because all we need it for is internet so it would be nice if we could use this one instead of having to buy another one.
I know this was kind of lengthy, but I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanx in advance.
BTW, the specs are:
Pentium 90 Mhz
WD 2.1 GB HDD
Seagate 1 GB HDD
16 MB Memory (I know this sucks but its hard to find EDO RAM)
Creative InfraRed CD-ROM
The motherboard is some kind of Acer OEM motherboard.
