I'm considering replacing the ODD (Matshita UJ870QJ) that came with my Asus F5RL laptop with a new one (Pioneer DVR-KD08). As far as I know, the Pioneer is a CSEL drive, but I'm not sure what type of ODD my laptop expects. I took the physical Matshita drive out and there is absolutely no indication on it if it's a MA, SL, CSEL or inverted CSEL drive. There a bold "[S]" sign on it, but I'm not sure if it's of any use here. In BIOS, it's configured as "First IDE Master" (my SATA HDD is configured as "Third IDE Master"). So from that we can probably say it's either MA or CSEL. What kind of ODDs do Asus laptops usually expect (my model is pretty recent, half a year old)? In short, I'm trying to determine what kind of ODD will work with my laptop before I actually go and buy one.
